iKamper Skycamp 2.0 Review

I’ve had the iKamper for a handful of months now, and I’ve spent enough nights in it where I’m confident that I can give it a full review. The Skycamp 2.0 is one of the newest Roof Top Tent offerings from iKamper, it is a hardshell with fold-out platform design, and is super spacious! The specs call it a 4 person tent, bu you’ll be perfect at three people or two + dog.

I’ll just come out and say that I really do love this tent. Some of the highlights for me are the super simple setup and teardown (It literally only takes me ~1min), the incredible amount of space inside, and the upgraded locking latches for the hardshell.

And while I do like the tent, there are still some areas for improvement. I think the mattress that the tent comes with is my least favorite part. I found it to be too firm and provide too little cushion for my shoulder as I typically sleep on my side. Luckily this is pretty easily remedied by purchasing some 2.5” memory foam online and cutting it down to size.

One thing that I didn’t know until I installed the tent is that I’m not able to prop out the rear window rain fly and open the rear hatch of the 4runner at the same time. So I typically only ever setup the main rainfly over the door and the front window.
