Fuel the Adventure

As much fun as it is collecting shiny new gear, this hobby is best when you’re actually able to get out there and put it to the test. The gift ideas in this category are designed to help you get outside and fuel the adventures, literally and figuratively.

For the Shadetree Mechanic

I get a lot of joy and fulfillment out of wrenching on my own rig, and if you do too then this category is for you

  • Walts Used Workwear

    • This may seem like a joke gift, but these quality used workshirts have become my go-to when I’m wrenching on the troopy. They are cheap and durable, what more could you want?

  • Tools are a tough one, but you can never go wrong with a unique tool or set.

    • One that I find surprisingly useful is the Wera Tool-Check, with a mini driver and rachet along with a large assortment of bits, it’s the tool I grab when working in a small space or on tiny things.

    • That’s on my list this year is the Koken attack driver set. Because I’m sucker for anything that comes in a cool steel box and that legendary japanese quality.

  • Autoparts store gift card for oil changes, fluids, grease, etc.

Gear Care

Sometimes you don’t need new gear, you just need to give the gear you already have a little TLC.

Everyday Carry

If you’re shopping for someone who has it all, then this category is a pretty safe bet because you can never have too many options.

  • Olight Flashlights

    • A good flashlight should be in everyone’s kit. Olight has been my go-to brand for a few years now because I like the quality, the magnetic charging, and the prices (and frequent sales!). I love my Arkfield pro, and Seeker4, and the Oclip is on my wishlist this year!

  • Multitools

    • My multitool of choice is the Letherman, I like the wave and the signal. Everyone should have a good multitool in their kit.

  • First Aid

    • A good first aid kit is an essential everyday carry item. I love the kits from My Medic because everything is so well labeled and easy to grab in an urgent situation.

    • First aid kits have expiration dates, and chances are things haven’t been replaced in a while. The mods and refill kits from My Medic are the perfect stocking stuffers to keep your current first aid kit ready for anything.

Gear for the Trails

When you’re out on the trails, having the right gear can mean the difference between a seamless adventure and a frustrating setback. Offroading often comes with unpredictable challenges, but with the right tools in your kit, you’ll be prepared to handle whatever the terrain throws your way. Whether it’s repairing a tire, clearing an overgrown path, or making quick adjustments to your setup, these essentials are must-haves for any overlander.

  • GlueTread Tire Repair

    • This is such a great addition to any tire repair kit. Sidewall damage can happen on any trail when you least expect it, and these Gluetread sidewall patches can help you make it off the trail.

  • Morrflate 4-Way Tire Inflation Kit

    • Air up, air down, and equalize the pressure in all four tires at once. I really feel like this streamlines the job and makes it quicker and easier for me.

  • Folding Saw

    • If you don’t have the space to dedicate to a chainsaw, a good quality folding saw is the next best thing in my opinion. I’ve used this to clear trails and to prep firewood, and it makes both jobs so much easier than with an axe alone.

  • Work Gloves

    • A good pair of work gloves definitely comes in handy on the trail. From clearing trees to changing tires to digging yourself out, these Mechanix gloves are up to the task.

Gear for camp

After a day of exploring trails and tackling tough terrain, setting up a comfortable, functional campsite is key to unwinding and recharging. The right camp gear makes all the difference, whether you’re cooking a hearty meal, staying warm under the stars, or relaxing by the fire. From innovative cooking tools to durable seating and lighting solutions, these gifts will elevate any overlander's camp experience.

  • Devos LightRanger Mini

    • I’ve been a fan of the Devos LightRanger since they launched, but never had the space for the large tripod. The new LightRanger Mini is on my list for this year, I think the small form factor is perfect for my needs.

  • Aeronaut Outdoor Camp Quilt

    • This is seriously the best camp quilt I’ve ever had. Its the perfect all season weight, and extremely comfortable.

  • OutIn Nano Portable Espresso Maker

    • This portable espresso maker is a recent addition to my setup, and I really love it. With a 7500mAh battery, you can heat water and brew 5 shots of espresso, or starting with hot water you can brew 200 shots of espresso.

    • Bandit loves his harness from Ruffwear, the fit and durability makes it the perfect solution for when we’re out on the trails

  • Knot-a-Hitch

    • Some areas don’t allow your pets to be off-leash, and this hitch system is so great. Set it up between two trees, and give your pet plenty of space to explore and enjoy a sense of freedom.

  • Highlands Dog Sleeping Bag

    • Making sure your dog can sleep warmly and comfortably through the night is critical, especially as overnight temps start to drop. Bandit loves this cozy sleeping bag.
